Mechanical, Thermal and Hydric Behavior of the Bio-sourced Compressed Earth Block (B-CEB) Added to Peanut Shells Powder

Bio-sourced compressed earth blocks (B-CEB) were manufactured with raw soil material and peanut shells powder to produce building feeble environmental impact better mechanical hydric performances. The objective of this work is add value two local natural materials namely shell in the production B-CEB low thermal conductivity, water resistance, strength. Mineralogical studies (by XRD, DTA-TG), chemical geotechnical (Atterberg limits, particle size distribution) carried out on clay have shown that it composed kaolinite (40 wt.%), muscovite (8 quartz (34 goethite (10 wt.%). It a sandy-silty medium plasticity containing no swelling minerals. Its particles are mainly (50 wt%), silt (32 fine coarse sand (18 wt%). used study referenced BAM. powder, range 10 40 wt.% improve soil, contains cellulose type I. apparent density decreases when content increases. By contrast, porosity increases was greatly affect by addition powder. With 20 increase about 67% compared reference (untreated B-CEB). Mechanical properties enhanced between 15 25 reached maximum wt.%. becomes more ductile All elaborated B-CEB, except B40, category construction load-bearing wall which characterized strength higher than 4 MPa. 30 resistance rain erosion enhanced. conductivity reduced 43% untreated B-CEB. Given improvement different properties, can be stabilize for habitats durability comfort.
